When I hit F1 by mistake instead of ESCAPE, I hate waiting for HELP to load. I think I used to be able to deactivate F1 in the CUI when we were still on XP (I think), but cannot find it now.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ray

Win7Ray, you can see Lynn's video on this topic (http://lynn.blogs.com/lynn_allens_blog/2005/10/the_best_autoca.html): http://lynn.blogs.com/lynn_allens_blog/2008/10/the-dreaded-f1.html

(CUI - look under the 'keyboard shortcut' section)

Melanie,

This "Youthfully Challenged" stuff is getting old. :-{)

Once I read Lynnn's blog on this, I remembered how I did it on the XP OS. Life is much better.

Thanks for the pointer.

Alternatively, but less cosmetically appealing, you can pop the F1 key out of your keyboard with a letter-opener or other flat blade...

Repathing the key is way cooler tho.

Will you please technically give a help to people?

My apologies. I don't mean to troll or give poor advice. I felt Wanderer already answered the OP's question and I posted an alternate answer. As a person who never uses F1 in any common application, I have found the "popping the key" method solves the "help menu popup problem" in not only AutoCAD, but nearly every other windows based program. That said, the question was how to disable it in the CUI and I diverged from that request. My bad.
