Hello,

Another question on walls: where can you define at which level of detail is shown what ? In other words is it possible to reset the visibility of cut patterns according to coarse, medium, detail ? Or you can't change it other than by changing it via a filter in each vue ?

Thanks

Assemblies (walls, floors, ceilings) will show as two lines, the interior and exterior finish faces, at coarse LOD, and all layers, complete with hacth patterns, at medium level.
Fine LOD does not change the appearance of assemblies (unless they contain embedded detail components in sweeps).
The LOD is controlled by the view settings but you can override each category in the visibility/graphics settings or by using filters. You can also make some changes to lines shown by altering the 'cut line styles' settings in the VG dialogue.
The short answer to your question is no, you can't change the global setting but you. An override certain settings.

At the risk of jumping to conclusions, judging by the two questions you asked so far you appear to be wanting to reproduce 'drafting' standards from previous experience. True?

Hi Dimitri

Thanks -filtering is a good tool but does not get me very - or maybe I am still missing out on something.

Well, to cut it short I am trying to show an assembled wall of loadbearing structure on the outside with two heavy lines and an inside insulation with a nice fine line. Nothing complicated ? ! Well, certainly I do not want go back to Autocad, but it seems to me that the graphic presentation of assembled objects is quite limited. So the option would be to go back and cut the wall into two different types - something which to me is not the idea of Revit...

Comments are welcome...
Thanks

Walter,
You are correct that filtering will only get you so far. For the level of granularity your are trying to achieve I'd look into 'cut line styles' overrides.
By carefully assigning functions to your wall definitions you should be able to get close to whatever graphic representation you are looking for. Always keep in mind that what we see on screen is often at a much higher magnification than the final plotted output. Not a bad idea to use the ZS keyboard shortcut to have Revit display the view on the screen at the final plotted size to get an idea of how much impact some of these overrides really have.
Checkout the screen caps and notes attached.
