Cool news, man. Gives Adobe and Autodesk a good scrap, which we all benefit from. Since we're not about to hand over Revit models to anyone, having a dumber file type (yet still 3D) to hand off to clients is good for business. Good news that Adobe is planning an alternative to 3D DWF, though whether you will be able to make one from Revit is anyone's guess...

There's a kind of 'Six degrees of separation' thing going on with this product.

Right Hemisphere licenses "Deep View" technology to Adobe
Adobe uses "Deep View" to create 3D images in "U3D" format (a new standard format)
The U3D Format is backed by companies such as Boeing, Intel, and Hewlett Packard.
Hewlett Packard is in a stratrgic partnership with Autodesk.
Autodesk owns Revit.
Revit (currently) writes PDF files.

So the big question is, will Revit take the next step and write U3D PDF files? Maybe it's not even a Revit question, though. The Right Hemisphere company software has been developed to "take 3D images from more than 120 computer-aided design software packages and translate them into a variety of standard formats including U3D.

With the forthcoming Revit API, will this allow a third party company (Adobe/Right Hemisphere) to develope a U3D PDF plug-in for Revit?

I remember hearing the next version of DWF will support 3d, the question is when will Revit support the creation of a 3d DWF?

Most likely scenario for the next version of Revit: (unsubstantiated)

Revit writes 3D DWFs and has mark-up capability
Revit does not write PDF's out of the box (HyperExpress not included)
Revit API allows Adobe, Bluebeam, and others to give PDF capabilities.

The ability to write 3d PDF's using Adobe stll involves shelling out another ~150.00 U.S. for the translator. If Revit will be able to write 3d DWF's out of the box at no extra $ I would think that gives DWF an edge. However, at Autodesk U, whenever there was talk of 3d DWF, Revit was not mentioned. At least this is my recollection.

Very nice! We need this capability! Right-click on some of those examples....you can show rendered, shaded, or line drawing views, even make the model transparent as you spin, pan, and zoom through the model.

Very Cool! This would be a very powerful sales tool. Instead of just posting sales layouts for each plot and perhaps some rendered views we could just post one of these as an interactive fly through. I bet we don't get this though as Autodesk would have to license this from adobe and they would like you to use their DWF format instead.
