Who controls what ?

Hello, My company has asked me to start arranging BIM meetings when starting a new project with the architect and M&E consultants but im a little bit stuck.
I work for a structural engineering company and I'm new to the BIM world so i was wondering what your thoughts, procedures and reasons are on what discipline controls what when starting a new project i.e grids, levels, floors, walls, roofs, etc....

Does your company have access to the Subscription Center? I could recommend you some classes from AU2011 that talk about this.
