Quite often you see and elevator door inside a concrete block wall which is itself inside a concrete wall. This allows a maximum opening in the concrete at the time of elevator installation. Just wondering if anyone has attempted an elevator door family that actually contains geometry for the block wall as part of the door family (thus eliminating the tedious task of cutting a block wall inside concrete at every floor). I've attempted it and the only down side that I can see is the need to create a separate tag to tag the concrete block.

You could easily do that as its own door but I would not recommend that as a habit.
Once you get into sharing and coordinating models with other disciplines you will want to keep the walls as walls. Structure will probably own the concrete wall and they will have their opening in the structural wall. You will then fill it in with a block wall and the elevator door. Group and copy and it shouldn't be hard to keep organized or change.
