A FRIEND AT WORK SOMETIMES TAKES PROJECTS HOME TO WORK ON AND HE STILL USES ACAD 14. MTEXT CREATED IN 2000i WILL HAVE A TEXT STYLE SAY ROMMED AND WHEN HE GETS HOME AND TRIES TO EDIT SOME
MTEXT IN HIS PROGRAM IT REVERTS TO A STYLE CALLED ROMMEDN AND IF
YOU DON'T PHYSICALLY GO TO THE PROPERTIES TAB AND CHANGE IT BACK TO
ROMMED IT WILL CHANGE TO THIS FONT STYLE WHEN YOU HIT ENTER. IT IS ABOUT
TO DRIVE HIM CRAZY AND HE HAS TRIED ALMOST EVERY THING WE KNOW OF.
TELLING HIM TO UPGRADE ACAD IS USELESS AS HIS FUNDS DON'T ALLOW FOR
THIS AND THE COMPANY WONT BUY HIM AN UPGRADE. DOING WORK OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE DOES HAVE ITS DOWN FALLS. HELP US PLEASE.

Hi
First things first, in future please turn off Caps Lock when writing a message that you intend to post within the Forums. Presently it looks like you are SHOUTING!!!
Maybe take a look at using something like the ETransmit command, this will package up everything that is used by the drawing file(s).
Have a good one, Mike

Is he getting any messages about this (ie, font not found) when he opens the drawings?

Sorry Mike, I'm a draftsmen not a typist, but you are right it does look like shouting.
Anyway exactly what will this do to mtext between versions?

No sorry required. I am also a draughtsman....
It will ensure the person has all the correct Font files at home when they work on the drawing file(s). If this isn't the case currently some Font substitution could be taking place, hence the issue / problem with the MText.

That would all depend on the from - to versions of the software.
In your case it looks like New _old_ New, this would suggest that
it might be best to run the old drawings through a Standards Check
when they are checked in to correct and fix any issues that might arise.

Brenda, We see that kind of message sometime when a client sends us a drawing
in a newer version of acad than we use even at the office. This is doing this from a
drawing we have set up and we get no messages then. It is like the default setting
from the set style we use is changed to something else all on its own, and when he
edits the text it has changed. What exactly controls mtext settings in regards to
style settings?

Please note, I don't think any of the above directly answer your particular issue / problem, I only offer them in the hope they may help shed a little light on the issue / problem.
