There are two of us working in Revit 2011 (no service packs installed) (Build: 20100326_1700(x64)) on a file inserting dimensions. We are working with the same file and same dimension style. One of us can select the center line of a single hinged door and the other cannot. We are in the same view, same file and using same dimension style. What is the solution?

Is it the same door family though? If not, there may not be the same reference in another family
Other causes:
Try hitting the "TAB" key while hovering over the door
Are you selecting the door first? The adjacent object may not be parallel.

One of you has Prefer Centerlines for openings set, and the other does not. That's my guess.

Check in the family editor if the centerline reference plane is a strong reference.

solution from Ideate using Revit---( in your case choose centerline).

Thank you for contacting Ideate Technical Support. I think what you are referring to is the Temporary Dimensions. Go to the Manage tab>>Additional Settings>>Temporary Dimensions. In the Temporary Dimension Properties dialog box change the Doors and Windows section to Openings. Now temporary dimensions will measure to the "jamb" of the door( in your case choose centerline).
