What happened to hide permanently?

In 6.1 you could hide permanently, in 7 it is gone from the eyeglasses.

Select object(s). Type VH from the keyboard. It is on the pulldown menu.

Curious, when would you use this function if it is permanent?

You can use it in lieu of Visibility Graphics. For instance: I want to hide all the (blasted) elevation markers. Instead of entering Visibility Graphics and toggling it off there, I would select a marker and hit VH. It can be a little faster than digging around in the Visibility Graphics dialog. Of course turning it back on in VG turns iot back on in the view.
