Hatch to Front won't work in Revit 2013

in Detail view i cannot get my transparent grey out hatch to "goto front" and cover other detail components. This was possible in 2012. 85317

the only way i can do this is when my visual style is set to wire frame in lieu of hidden. hidden is what i want. 85318

Please see attached images for a clarification.
