View Full Version : Adding Color To Mass

Hey guys,
I'm sure there is a simple answer to this but I just can't find it. I have a concept model we created that has quite a bit going on. It has a few different masses in it and I need each mass to be a different color. Let me describe how I created the masses -

I went to the "Massing & Site" ribbon, chose "In-Place Mass", drew the shape, picked the shape outline and chose "Create Form".

So what I now have is the following - Mass 1 (a parking garage), Mass 2 (a covered walkway), Mass 3 (a hotel). One other note, my PM wants to show the different phases in separate views so I have a couple of them set up using "Phasing". It gets a bit conplex, but isn't really that hard to follow. I want to somehow show these masses each in a different color but can't figure out how to add color to them. How do I go about getting them to display in something other than the stupid "Revit Grey"?

Also, when I render the view, it all comes out grey. Is there a way to get the previous phase stuff to render normally? If I set the view to that phase it looks great, but when I set it to a later phase it greys everything else out. I need it to render all of it, not grey out part of it.

Hey Tim,

I have materials assigned to my masses based upon function for my adjacency bubble diagrams.

So I think I'm gettign somewhere here. But I have a new dillema.

When in the material editor, I tried to duplicate an existing material to create my new material from. All I want is a color applied to it, not an actual pattern. When I change the color of my new material, it also changes the one I created it from. How do I stop that?
