Hi,

I am still new for Revit, and I have a question about wall construction here.

I basically have this kind of wall condition through the building, the stone veneer height may different in some places.(as attached jpg image shows)

Now I can think of 3 ways of doing this:

1. use basic wall, add a finish layer then adjust top extension distance in property. Add stone cap by wall sweeper.

2. draw two walls, one for the wall itself and one for stone veneer. Add stone cap by wall sweeper.

3. use stacked wall, so I can also included stone cap in wall, but a little hard to modify because I have to go into many layers.

I am kind wondering what is the better way to construct this in Revit? Or there is a better way to do this?

Thank you so much.

This is a tough one since you mentioned the stone veneer is at different heights. Is it stepping a lot or are their just two or three variations?

If it was all one height I would build the two profiles (the cap and the base) into the wall as a sweep so you can define the two different materials. Since it's stepping maybe I would create a wall sweep to add in on top of the wall manually and adjust the heights as required. I would avoid using two walls since it's going to screw up your graphics in plan. You'll have to run around everywhere and join the walls to avoid having dark cut lines next to eachother. Another option is to build a face based family that you can attach to the face of the wall. That way you could customize the heights with more ease.

Yes, there is a better way. Create two wall types. Edit the structure of the wall, select "section" in the viewer, add sweep profiles. one for the water tables, one for the veneer. make your veneer a parametric profile with different heights. Now you can just select walls and make them have the veneer instead of running around doing sweeps or aligning walls.
