View Full Version : 2012 Dynamic Profile acting Static

I have a profile that I built from a surface, which is built from Auto Feature Lines from a corridor. The properties say that this profile is dynamic. However, when I make a change, rebuild the corridor, and rebuild the surface, the surface profile does not change. If I go into the properties, change it from dynamic to static, then ack to dynamic, it will make the change. If I make another change, I have to repeat this.

It acts like the profile is not rebuilding when the surface is rebuilt.

Thoughts?

I will add this to the list of reasons I do not use feature lines in my corridor targets.

I would suggest use of alignment from that corridor instead.

And you were sure to toggle on create dynamic link for this feature line when you made it, yes?

I've never had problems with feature lines in my corridors. Regardless, I don't think this is the problem anyway. After I make changes to the alignment or profile, rebuild the corridor, rebuild the surface, the surface contours properly represent the changes I made. That is, the surface is right. It is the profile I made from the surface that is not right and won't update dynamically.

I'm doing all this as part of a workaround for tying proposed profiles to existing features on the surface. If one could lock a profile to a point on the surface, this wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Michael

I didn't say that feature lines in the corridor were a problem.
I have reasons I don't like to use them in corridors.

Michael,

I know you are a very experienced and knowledgeable in AutoCAD. Your name, as a starting point, is all over this forum.

Can you share some of your concerns with using feature lines in corridors so that those less knowledgeable can know what to beware of? Perhaps this is something you could write an article for an AUGI publication?
