Does anyone know how to change "material" name for the pipes, for instance, instead of Reinforced Concrete Pipe, I would like to put RCP.
I am using CIVIL 3D 2012, I know I was able to do this is previous versions but this on is not allowing me to.

They BROKE that part, now instead of chopping the material name off if the column isn't opened wide enough to accept the new name.
I think this is due to the folders being set to read only, try changing that and test again.
They decided to not allow that entry to be changed at all. You may find it easier to Add an Expression for the material and use that instead.
Some copy the part catalog and change the name there.

There are two ways to accomplish this:
1. You can edit the description using Part Builder
or
2. Simply edit the AeccCircularConcretePipe_Imperial.xml XML file.
(Line 106 contains the Material Type of Reinforced Concrete Pipe. Simply change it to RCP)
or
3. Simply point 2012 to the prior 2011 version of the catalog.
I zipped the XML file and attached.

Thanks for the help, who at AutoDESK do we have to thank for this?

Actually, there's an even better way to change the part. Simply open the rcp part in Part Builder, delete the MAT parameter (going off memory, but I think that's what the parameter is called), and save. Make sure to do a catalog regen once you're out of Part Builder. The material will then be optional as it was in 2011.
