Hi,

I am creating a test track for my university project. I have created the loft for the track’s path and am trying to apply a banking of 34deg to the corners.
However, this needs to be flat in the inside lane, and gradually build up to 34deg in the outside lane. Using the twist deformation I am only able to get a 34deg banking across the entire width of the track. Can anyone help me out?

I'm using 3DS Max 2012

Thanks!

I would consider creating multiple plines to make the cross section of the track, then lofting that along an oval (or whatever shape the track is). this way, you could control the exact shape of the track when it's banked, but also have a nice flat track on the straightaways. By using modifiers on the same flat-track shape, precision and modification become more difficult. By using a few shapes for the cross section, it's easy to modify how the track changes in a bank. Lemme know if you need more detail.

Agreed with Phillip. Multiple sections would give you more control. TIP: be sure the vertex order and amount are the same or each section or you will get some strange transitions!

I learned that one the hard way ;)
