Mouse and keyboard... don't underestimate how much extra you can sqeeze out of a keyboard other than just typing and the default quick keys.

I don't think you get that much more out of a special mouse or keyboard to justify buying one. A wheelmouse and good keyboard shortcuts get you 90% of the way there...

If you have a cad jockey who isn't a power Cad user, then giving them extra input devices that have been customized can in turn increase productivity.

A factory that churns out CDs. ;)

Never mind.

Mouse and keyboard.

Tried using a USB 10-key for my left hand, (my "other" vote in the poll) so I could type in distances and such easier. But I found that it moved too much, so I always had to move it back into a comfortable position. I would still like to try a 'left-handed' keyboard which has the 10-key permanently on the left of the keyboard.

Couldn't you put on some pads to keep it in place?

WACOM.

'nuff said. ;)

(with hopes to upgrade to the flat-screen model in the future).

Tried that, still seemed to move around too much.

I'm waiting for the 42" Wacoms (so it will fit my 30x42 drawings). Mount it on angled legs like an old drafting board! Talk about coming around full-circle! Now if Revit gives us the ability to 'squiggle' lines......;)

I have tried the flat screen Cintiq and didn't like it. Your hand gets in the way of seeing your model/drafting as you work and I found that I kept having to lift my wrist to see under it (when working from left to right) to see where I was going with my linework etc. This is quite awkward and slowing.
I am looking forward to upgrading my old ArtZII Wacom to the Intuos3 with its programable buttons and touch scroll pads.
Cheers

hm. yeah, I wondered about that. I used one a while back at AU just for a little while, and noticed that difficulty, and wondered if it would really bug me or not.

And my Wife has one of those new Intuos3's at work, and she really loves it.

I use a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. I got tired of pain in my hand and fingers. I have the buttons on it programed to different commands for each program and with a large screen and a wireless keyboard I can just kick back and draw.
