Have tried the spiral stair feature in Revit Arch12 and got it to work for a cylinderical stair. Not sure how to get this to work for anything other than stairs. (Materials such as steel springs, etc.) Or how it would work for a conical shaped spiral material. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks Grant Fiest
Got it to work using the builtin helix/sweep command in AutoCAD. then imported it into revit. Trying now to figure out how to convert the CAD file into Revit surfaces.

Revit Architecture is not all that good at doing non-architecture. You can do this in conceptual mass as a 3D spline with profiles hosted along the path, then select all, create form. The real power of Revit, though, is that you could make this spring PARAMETRIC with revit, e.g., you'd be able to vary the pitch and size of your spring within the properties, though it would take a while to perfect it. Modeling this type of stuff in CAD is much easier, in visibilty graphics, object styles you'll see the materials for imported objects.
