Custom workspace settings won't save

Has anyone else had trouble with saving where their quick icons as well as type properties and project browser menus. I try to have my project browser on the left and type properties on the right. Normally it saves that after closing/rebooting computer but sometimes it won't.
I know you could save a user-profile in AutoCAD, I think it was a ".arg" file??? Is this an option in Revit?

I think that information is saved when Revit is closed. The times I've seen settings change like that are when I've had a second instance of Revit running, and that one gets closed last. I've also seen that happen when Revit is started by launching a file from Windows instead of from the .exe file.
