I am unable to use the rebar and/or rebar cover commands in almost any view. In the 2013 version architecture, structural, and MEP are all combined in one platform. The strutural rebar will not work in any view i attempt. I can not create a cover and cannot place or even sketch rebar in detail nor in 3d nor in plan view. Is anybody else having this issue?

Can you give us some more information about your problem.

What elements are you trying to add rebar to? Columns, beams or walls etc???

When you go onto the Ribbon - Structure/Reinforcement are the elements greyed out? If not then you should be able to use them. When select the Cover icon do you get the options bar under the Ribbon you can select rebar cover or add your own.

When you select the rebar have tried switching the placement orientation on the contextual Ribbon?

What happens when you do a section through the element you are trying to add rebar?

Spenner, I am trying to add rebar to almost everything just to try to get it to work. Originally trying to do an 18" concrete slab and an 18" concrete wall. both generic types just width modified. Nothing is greyed out on the structure tab. I am able to create a new cover length however it does not show nor select and item. As far as view goes, i have done all view possiblities and it doesnt work in any view whether section, callout, floor plan, or 3d view. all i get is a small column next to my cursur and then nothing. I cannot using a crossing window to select anything with cover or rebar commands active. I can't even select one item to add a cover or rebar too. Tried again just now while typing this and it's still a no go. cant add any of it. When in the rebar command i try to place it perpendicular to cover, parallel to cover and parallel to work plane and all i get is a circle with line through it meaning i cant place. When i select the sketch rebar command i do not go into sketch mode or anything just directly back to the structure tab without any command active. Hope this extra info might help. sounds and feels like a programming issue perhaps with install or something? My company has hired me out of college to get them switched to revit from autocad. So nobody here has any idea how to fix this issue. any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was wrong, when i select the sketch rebar command it asks me to select host for rebar. For some reason i cannot select any single host for the rebar and as soon as i select anything it exits the command.

WOW. I have solved my own issue. This may sound kinda goofy but the walls i was trying to put rebar in where not considered structural walls. Nor was the floor. So now that I have them marked as structural members i can put rebar in them. Thanks to all who looked and tried to help. Just something i had to figure out i guess. lol Now everyboy who reads this will know that may be their issue as well.:)
