Is there a way to put a "plumb cut" on a dimensional lumber element from the stock family in 7.0, in a beam system (as to flush it to a ridge beam) and be able to use it as an accurate structural detail, currently mine are protruding through the ridge, and some are a bit longer than others although the "witness lines are right on. Is an other family required to be created from the stock one...or a completely different one??

Just to clarify.....you have a rafter going up to a ridge beam and it doesn't trim to it?...the connecting surface remains square to the pitch so that the bottoom corner of the rafter protrudes through the ridge beam, is that right?

Thats correct, Its a 2x12 out of the 7.0 library. If they are supposed to trim then perhaps I did something wrong in the process? This is my first structural beam roof soooo.
