Hello,
I've got a very detailed Revit Model of a 5 story mixed use building. the central model is about 250 mb, and there are 8000+ elements in the file. I'm trying to create a shell model to link into a Site Model Project. I have erased all 600 furniture families, 1,200 light fixtures, 450 specialty eqp, 1000 mechanical eqp, 1,600 electircal families. after removing all of these components and purging, my file size is nearly identical. how do i make the file size smaller? im confused about this process. any suggestions?

I have found that the modelling itself doesnt increase a file size by that much, its usually text notes/detail lines etc that bumps up the file size.

Do a purge, then save as and it should get much smaller, or check the box to compact central file on save. To make saving faster, the default save does not compress teh file or get rid of all old junk.
