I'm creating a lot of text parameters for floors which can simply be typed in and appear in a schedule (fire ratings, deck profiles, slab joints etc). The problem is I don't want all parameters for every floor ie don't want slab joint requirement showing on timber floor, joist centres showing on concrete floor etc. Is there anyway round this? At the moment all I am doing is creating a shared text parameter then loading into project as an instance parameter and associating with floors.

Yes and no. Once you load a shared parameter into your project, it becomes a project parameter. From there it will always be available for use. That doesn't mean that you have to use it, or even have to schedule it. You could have 2 separate floor schedules, one for timber framing and one for everything else. On the timber schedule, just omit the fields you don't need. The data field will still be available for use, but the entry will be blank.

You might also consider exactly how you are using these parameters. Are you using them for calculations? If not, you may be able to use text type parameters. Then in your schedule you can type "n/a" into the field whenever a timber floor shows up.

Hope this helps,
