I have downloaded the Majestic_R36.rfa fireplace (see attachment) from RUGI and when I try to edit the height AFF property... only part of the model moves and distorts the model.

I have tried to edit the family element but cannot figure out how to lock or unlock the appropriate elements. can someone tell me how to fix this or fix it and repost. The model is very good and I will use it often if the "Height AFF" proerty works properly.

Sorry still very new to revit...

Instead of trying to fix it right now, can you place it, then in elevation just move it up or down to the desired elevation.

I tried that before...but it will only let me move it left/right not up/down?

Clark,

this was very poorly made family. I opened it up and discovered that it would be easier to remake it than try to modify it so that things worked correctly. If it were not a floor based element, you could have done what sbrown suggested. Not sure if this would work, but try copying the model and pasting it into a new generic model family that isn't floor based. You could also try your hand at creating a new one from scratch. You'll have to learn sooner or later, lol. :-)
