Hello, I have created a set of stairs, they can be seen on plan, but I can't see them in 3D view. I have not created any walls or roof's for them to hidden by. I have created them every possible way and have the same result. I have checked visabilty/graphics to make sure they are ticked and meant to be visable and every thing is ok. By all accounts I should be able to see them in 3D views, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ?

Without more information this is a non-trival task. Because of the very powerful and granular visibility controls in Revit there are about 50+ different ways something can become hidden.
are they 2013 stairs? by component or by sketch? are all the subcategories of "Stair" switched on in the 3d view? can you see them in elevation or section views? is there a section box in your 3d view? have you used phasing or filters at all? design options? are you working in a workshared environment? if so, which workset are they on and is it visible in the view? If you create a new 3d view, are they there? what if you find the ID in plan view and then select by ID in the 3d view, are they there? have you tried "reveal hidden elements" view mode? are you working in black background? what happens if you crossing select in the area of the stair? what happens if you switch to wireframe view?
Can you post an RVT file?

Thank you kmarsh the mass of questions helped, done a check by each one and found it to be Subcategories in 3D view not switched on. It had to be something simple, Thanks for the help

glad you were able to find it fairly quickly. Even I've struggled for many minutes sometimes trying to figure out a visibility issue. I wonder if someone has posted a visibility "troubleshooting" guide either on here or in one of the blogs. reveal hidden elements can often be a major help in tracking down issues where things have been hidden by element, starting a fresh view also often helps. The other culprits are frequently design options which can be controlled with a tab in visibility graphics as well as worksets.
Thanks again,
