View Full Version : Section box in hidden line views

I have a series of small building on a particular site. I would like to show a quick 3D view of each indicating its overall form. If I try and do this using a section box then everything else can be hidden and I can focus on the relevant part of the overall site, but only if I am willing to work with the views in shaded with edges mode. Is there a way of achieving the same but in Hidden line so that I can place the view on a sheet that is going for black and white duplication?

The information I've found regarding the use of the section box indicates that it is only available with the shaded view.

I think a section box on a hidden line view would be super useful. Also, I'd like to be able to control the sectional display of section boxed geometries, i.e. black poche. I'll have to click through the Wishlist to see if these items have already found their way over there.

while we wait for the section box to be available in the hidden lines mode, why not use the Hide/Isolate tool to hide everything you don't need and create a 3d view for each part of the project...?

Pete,

Phases or worksets is the answer.

Pete,

I think the only answer at present may be to go for 'shaded with edges' views and then print in Black and White.

THis section box functionality is good but needs to work in hidden line and also the parts that are sectioned need to display as if they are solid in the model.
We use this function a lot to 'explore' the model but the printing lets them down.

If I set all materials to a white finish I may get what I require even in the shaded view, but I suspect I am going to have to separate the project into worksets and make it happen that way.

Thanks for your thoughts.
