Is it possible to transfer a 3D view orientation from one file to another? I am trying to use a duplicate angle / tilt / zoom to export very similar images of two slightly different buildings. I'm not sure if there's a way to copy the view from one file and paste it, or apply it, to the other. Any insight is appreciated.

Not that this is super helpful, but may at least let you move on: the last time I looked into this, I couldn't find any way to do it. Maybe somebody else can help, but I'd recommend just getting it as close as possible by eye and leaving it at that.

While I also do not have a true solution, here is a trick I learned from working with SketchUp:

Find the location of your camera placement (by selecting Show Camera) and draw model lines to indicate the exact camera location, eye height, and camera direction. You can copy these lines to your other file and use them as a guide to place your new camera. No it will probably not be perfect, but it should be close enough that no one but you will ever notice.

Hope this helps,

LP - that's a clever trick. Thanks for the input.

In a plan view go to the browser and hover over the camera you want, right click > show camera, copy to clipboard, paste aligned in other project.

Revitaoist - even better tip. What if the 3D view is just an isometric, and there is no camera? Any ideas there?

I just tried it with the default {3D} view and it copyclips just like a regular camera. I am using 2013.

I'll be damned. You, sir, are a Revitist and a scholar.

Sweet! As I said, I looked for a solution awhile back and never found one. This is great, thanks!
