Summary: Now this option would not remove the source coding for the true coordinates, but would allow for reorienting a project to the local UCS. There would have to be some sort of new UCS option, not sure of naming (something like LOcalize) that would allow Civil 3D and all its embedded objects to reorient themselves to a localized system.

There would have to be some sort of new UCS option, not sure of naming (something like LOcalize) that would allow Civil 3D and all its embedded objects to reorient themselves to a localized system.

This would run a routine that would reanalyze all coded civil 3D objects and reorient the entire system to a localized UCS. I could foresee this system being rather cumbersome, especially with complex designs, but the usefulness in anything from field layout to drafting could be helped by this procedure.

One such moment that sparked this concept was fiddling with North command and Azimuth adjustment in the drawing settings in an attempt to fool pipe networks into relating to a local north. It never worked, and I ended up exploding three tiers of labels to function with varying viewport bearings for plan and profile sheets, just so I can rotate all the N, E, S, W bearings 45 degrees clockwise to match with the local north.... this took a few hours...
