Summary: INSERT AN EXISTING BLOCK & RENAME IT UPON INSERT

Description: It would be useful to be able to insert an existing block to a location on a drawing & give it a new name at the same time. Typically the block edit function would follow adding or altering content as required.

Product and Feature: AutoCAD - Blocks

For the lack of this feature, I had a macro that prompts you for a new name and converts a selected block to a unique block definition. Probably won't vote for this. :D It will make my macro useless. Block editor have a "Save Block As" feature but it doesn't replace the block being edited by the new one, you still have to insert it manually.

works at command line doesn't it?, INSERT newname=oldname

It searches for [blockname].dwg. I guess it only works for drawings being inserted as block, not on existing block. Although I'm not aware of this feature.
