Well, it does what it says... Let's say you have a central file names "yourfile.rvt". When you make a local, it saves a copy of "yourfile.rvt" as "yourfile_kathey1.rvt" (or whatever your computer username is). You synced and closed out at the end of the day yesterday. This morning, you open the central file to make a new local and it asks you "Overwrite or append time stamp?". If you choose overwrite, Revit replaces "yourfile_kathey1.rvt". If you choose append time stamp, yesterday's local will be renamed "yourfile_kathey1_02Jul2012_165830.rvt" or something like that. And then Revit will make a new local called "yourfile_kathey1.rvt". Voila! Long explanation for a short question. :)

Does anyone knows how to get back the Apend Timestamp in Revit. We are using Revit MEP 2016 and now from yesterday onwards when we are opening any Existing file will not ask to append timestamp in Revit. can anyone help how to get back this facility ? our Local file path is same and the central file also same name.
Thanks

Revit will not ask to Append timestamp only if the local file is deleted from the default path for user files or if worksharing is not enabled!

Hi Damen,
Thanks for your time. The same procedure I am doing and I am using Revit since 10yrs. However, after the new service pack updates it never ask append stamp facility to any of our colleagues in our firm. my question is does anyone has same issue with new Revit updates. it ask only Overwrite only there is NO facility for to have append stamp is there is any hidden setup for to gain back this ?
