We are having problems in 7.0 when we import (link) a dwg file and then turn off several layers in the Visibility Graphics box, the next time we open the same Revit file the layers that we turned off are back on again (remember the old vis-retain setting).
Is anyone else having this problem ?

If the problem persists, use the select layers option when linking the drawings, uncheck layers to be turned off. This will leave the layers out of revit, so if at any point you need to look at those layers they won't be there.

I tested it out in my machine and it works perfectly. The visibility settings of the imported DWG file are retained even after you close and reopen the project. My build is 20050126_2030. Try to download the latest build and install. It can fix other problems outlined here:
Filled region in drafting view masks titleblock
3D extents of Levels and Grids are better preserved during file upgrade
Generic models do not appear in plan views after 7.0 upgrade
Performance improvements with grid and level heads
Linked .dgn files will not reload if unloaded
Dimensions of imported dwgs are "cleaner"
"Zoom to Fit" no longer zooms too far out
Curtain wall/grid improvements

We're still having the linked layer visibility problem using build 20050227_0414. It seems to happen when the linked file is altered. As a test I added a layer to a linked drawing; reloaded it; and all of the layers that had been turned off were turned back on. It's a huge time drain resetting visibility every time we print.
Files that have not been altered keep their settings.

Looks like we are having the same issue. I guess we should both submit our info on the subscription center.
It appears that any alteration to a linked dwg, when reloaded all visibility overides are returned to the original state. Very mean, we have dozens of dwg imports, unfortunatley and it happens to all of them.

Yes it happens to us as well even with the latest build. It can get to be very annoying and time consuming to reset the DWG visibility.

Yes
I have just had support question answered by Revit Subscription Support and at this point in time there are no workarounds. hmmm wonder what the Revit Series people are doing
It is bloo.. annoying...tooo much house keeping with layers

Revit says they are still working on it for us. Hopefully they will find the problem and get a quick fix into 8.0. we are doing a lot of linking dwg files in on our larger projects due to project team training levels, I wish we weren't, but we are. Basically our work around is to not reload the dwgs until right before we absolutely have to print, make the layer changes, then print. Not very good, hopefully the factory will come up with something better.

Well, no workaround, its a Known issue and the development team is aware of it. Hopefully 8.0 will have it fixed.

Has anyone heard if this has been fixed in 8? It's a major problem for us.
Thanks

Does anyone know if this problem is solved in release 8?
Thanks,
