Is there any way to note which custom family components in a project have been mirrored? I'm trying to label specific casework that has been mirrored (example tag the normal C01 and the mirrored C01M) Currently I am just building a separate mirrored family but it is not really ideal - to mirror all the geometry it loses its constraints, etc.

Thanks!

I don't know of a way to automatically determine if a family has been flipped, but you could add a custom parameter with a yes/no value to store that data. You would have to make sure that they are checked correctly throughout your project, but that might make tagging easier. Just a thought.

Or, have two types of a single family with the type controlling visibility of casework in the family (have two copies of the casework, one normal the other flipped) and the tag suffix parameter that is either " " or "M"
But, that is pretty similar what you are already doing.

Yeah that was my original plan, but it bogged down the family files. Is it possible to parametrically control a flip control with a yes/no switch (or even just get a reporting parameter), and therefore could be determined by type? I couldn't get that to work either.

I saw something on the Autodesk wiki about FamilyInstances and that you could report whether an item was mirrored or not but the link did not make sense to me:

That was what I originally tried, but it made my family files pretty clunky.

I found this post on the autodesk wiki but couldn't really decipher it:
