View Full Version : 2012 Trouble with Data Link to Table, wanting Metric units

Ok so I have an excel spread sheet that I used Data Link and create a table, that I have figured out.

My problem is, if I set my table style up for metric: text size 3.175 (versus .125) etc, the table that gets created using the Data Link is too small.
If I just do a "blank" table with the same style, it comes in the correct size for metric.

Is there some variable that I need to change? Does Excel drive the text size (table size) when doing a Data Link?
If so how can I change it?

The only way I can get what I want right now is create the table using Data Link and then scale it up 25.4, but that seems hokey to me.

Thanks

that sounds right to me -- Excel is relying on the Windows settings, which you've got set to US. For Win 7, in Control Panel, look for 'Region and Language', and on the location tab, set your location to a metric country. Ireland mught be nice this time of year, certainly it's too hot around here :)

huhmmm, question for the metric people -- does excel use points for font sizes in your part of the multiverse? or a mm equivalent?

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad I'm on the right path.
I would have assumed that Excel just fills in the table with data and the table style would drive the size, but I guess not.

I guess I'll just work around it, I don't want to change my 'Region', although Ireland sounds nice.
I hear they have allot of sheep and not many trees.
