I've always used 35mm. As it matches the snappy cameras of old. It just feels right in my opinion.

If I can remember it correctly, in a lesson of making an architectural perspective, the ideal field of view (FOV) of the human eye is 60 degrees. I try not to go far from 60deg FOV. Try adjusting the FOV and the length will follow. 60deg is about 31.20mm lens length.

Yes i agree...this how we make perspective manually when autocad is not yet in existence :)
