Standard layer names and batch standards checker - yes, I can understand how you do that!

How in the world do Mechanical users apply the standards checker as far as checking layer groups? Our projects are so varied that no one set of named layer groups would do.
Has someone used the standards checker successfully in this regard? An example would be great.

Mechanical designs
Mfg and office floor plans
Schematics - Electrical and fluid flow
