I attended an online demonstration some months back now that a gentlemen with Revit, I'm embarrassed to say, who's name escapes me right now, gave regarding cost estimating with Revit and Excel.

During this demonstration he said that a certain action would transfer all related schedule formats to another project ala transferring project standards. Since schedules are missing from that command feature, I'd love to "remember" it...anyone else remember it? Dean...you listened in too right?

The unnamed gentleman was Ken Stowe, our resident construction guru.

To transfer schedules, place them on a sheet, then select them and copy to clipboard. Open the new project, and paste them onto a sheet. The format and settings will be transferred. You can then delete them from the sheet. They will still be available in the browser and you can drag and drop them on sheets as you would with any other schedule.

Thanks David, I knew I wasn't dreaming it...moving to tips and tricks now!

Added: Just make sure you paste the schedule in...then delete it immediately, the schedule will existing in the project browser still. Not deleting it can cause Revit to bail out...at least it has for me.

Great tip ! Works like a charm.

Can we get schedule formats included in Transfer Project Standards in some future release ? ( Maybe when TPS is fixed ) Cos, thats the right spot for it.

( Steve, that'll teach you to sit down the back of the class mucking up. The headmaster wants to see you straight after prep ! )

I've tried this but do not see any signs that it's working!? :banghead:
What could I be doing wrong?

I'm using 5.1 and am trying to transfer my schedule settings from a current project to my template file.

In the "good" project, place your schedule on a sheet view. Select the schedule, choose Edit>Copy to Clipboard

Open you destination file, create or open a sheet view, paste the schedule into the sheet view. Then delete the schedule.

You will find your schedule view still exists in the Project Browser and it is formatted the same as the "good" one. Make sure you don't have one already there with the same name, though I'm not sure that it matters, just to be "safe".

Thanks Steve.

I've got it to work. I didn't properly delete existing schedules from the file that I was importing into. Or I'm sure I could have renamed one of the files.
