Change Structural columns to Architectural

Hello,
In the model we are working on, we have structural columns (which by the way are pinned) instead of architectural ones. We have to change them to Architectural columns because we need them to have room bounding and wall joining properties. We just tried to do so by editing the familiy category from structural columns to columns and reload them to the project but all the columns were deleted. Is there another way to change them?

Screen capture of your column/wall intersection would help as it would explain what you are trying to do. I do not think you would want to remove the structural columns from the project by replacing them with architectural ones, maybe you are looking to create a column cover or a fire rated assembly around the column? Also changing the families categories like that will not solve the problem as the structural column properties are vastly different from the architectural column properties.

Might you want to box them in i.e. 'draw it as you'd build it', the old revit mantra?
