I am creating a special beam family to fit our needs for a ceiling suspension grid. I have chosen the beam because of the ease of inputting a beam system. I am attaching what i have created so far. The beam itself is ok. The overall lenth doesnt adjust in a beam system because of the outline of the system itself. Im ok with that as i want the beam to conform to the system's outside walls. The rod lenth adjusts nicely as well. The issue i'm having and unsure how to solve, as of yet anyhow still messing around, is how to have the rod hanger itself repeat every 5'. I have it set where it always stays in the center of the beam but i want it to go 5' from a given location on the beam and repeat. I have locked all instances of the hanger to the location of the hole i cut in the beam but can't figure out how to have it reapeat a specific distance, which will usually be the 5'. That also I would like to be adjustable in case we need to go 4' or some other distance. Any help or ideas on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. thanx all
Update: I have looked into this and have found the "divide and repeat" steps that are new to 2013 revit. However I can't figure out how to use it. I have got the divide but cannot get to the point where repeat is not greyed out lol. Anybody else in 2013 and has used this tool? any help is appreciated.
Ok now I have found out more. I now have created a square tube generic adaptive template, and created a hanger also generic adaptive. I have been able to get it to where the hanger repeats even. I can not get it to sit correctly on the tube however. I am attaching what I have to see if anyone here can help me figure out what I need to do next. The hanger should be turned 90 deg so the legs are down 2" from bottom of tube. I would also like this to be a beam to put in a beam system but not sure how to make a generic model to be and act like a beam. Anyone able to take the time to look at this and see where I went wrong? thx all very much
