I've got another tough one for you. Our office uses a standard RomanS.shx font. There is a RomanS font in Revit, however, we uses some special charicters in ours that arnt coming through when I import Autocad linework and text into a revit drawing. For example, we have the text ~P show up in autocad as PL for plate. For fractions we have ~4 show up as 1/4" but in a fraction form. Is there any way to have these special charicters show up in Revit. Any help you have would be greatly appriciated.

Quite awhile ago I posted this THREAD (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=4786&highlight=details)The short answer to your question is that you need to be prepared to make some compromises in favor of Revit when it comes to sharing details between AutoCAD and Revit. This symbol issue is just one of those...

In addition to Steve's post, this is a character mapping issue (keyboard/font character assignment), and custom architectural characters have been created for the shx font, and mapped to particular key combinations. As you know, those characters do not exist in a standard version of a typical ttf fonts.

One option might be to find someone who has a font editing program like Fontographer, Fontlab, or Font Creator, and have those special characters designed and mapped into your house font, that matches the shx font mapping.

Another would be to purchase one of those proggies and do it yourself.

Obviously, the most painful would be to convert your office standard.
There are a few nice architectural ttf fonts available if you decide to go that route.
