Hopefully someone here can help me.

I have a curtain wall in a design I'm currently working on that refuses to render as transparent. I have checked and double checked the material appearance settings, setting them to various types of glass, varying degrees of transparency, all to no avail. It's not just the glass that refuses to render properly, the mullion materials won't change either. The Curtain Wall as a unit is one big greyed out mass. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

eta: I am working in Revit 2012

Screen capture of the issues sure would help this question.

This is the curtain wall rendering as grey.

This is screencap of the material I have set the curtain panel to. It is a material that I duplicated and adjusted from one of the standard glass options

Hate to ask the obvious, but are the materials assigned correctly to the curtain wall panels and mullions? It looks like your glass material should be transparent, but that doesn't mean your panel is using said material. Sometimes it's the simplest thing...

I've selected the individual panel, clicked "edit in place" then picked the outline of the panel, and then set the appropriate material. I've also tried editing the extrusion of the panel and changing the material there. When I select the panel, it shows that it is set to the appropriate material. I'm at a loss.

the model is one that uses options, so the curtain wall is in the main model, whereas other elements are in an option. It appears that everything in that zone, for example, the small steps in the wings of the curtain wall, are also refusing to render a material.

So I've got an answer, and just in case anyone else has this problem and finds this thread, the problem was with the phase filter. I go to the 3d view I create, and under properties I find "phase filter" and change it to "show complete." Easy as that.

Thanks to those of you who tried to help, though.

Nice!!! Thanks for the followup on dealing with this issue. I was having a similar problem with the glass block wall material. Had my phase filter set to previous and new. All I was getting was a gray glass block wall when rendering. Setting the phase filter to Complete made it all good.

I know it's an old post but it still applies. Thanks for posting this: I tried a dozen suggestions before this simple fix.
