I am drawing stone step walkways for a resort development i'm designing in mexico. I'm having terrible trouble with the floor tool. I have been crashing nonstop while trying to sketch these stones. why? if I choose the in place family tool, or the filled region tool, the intricacies of my paths seem limitless. Why does the floor tool crash after 30-40 boundary lines. I'd like the stones to schedule for some finish material calcs, and i'm frustrated by this limitation.

I would suggest creating them as separate families instead of using the floor tool...Because the floor has associations with other model elements...

I've experienced this too when creating alternating stone patterns. Nice part about them being families you can use them on other projects and they can be scheduled. If you extrude them you can still get finish material information too.

my stone work is pretty project specific, although, i suppose if i was just doing a straight run, a family would work well.

oh, and i meant Irregular...

Hi Limbatus, it is a bug of the program, I had the same issue and was solved with the service pack 1.

Thanks

How can I check if i'm running SP1? IT takes care of all the updates on my machine.

Go to the Help drop down arrow and view 'About Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013'. In the top Right of that dialog box there will be your 'Build' information.
