I have searched and searched and cannot replace the dim number w/dim text. Like using the word 'varies' in place of the dim string numbers. I am not advocating cheating the dims like we can do in cad now. But there are times I am told where we need this function to replace a number with a text string.

(WL) Maybe this could be done with a text dim icon in the text editor?

Our CAD guru has said this will be a major problem/hurdle for our office to overcome in wide acceptance of the software from an IT standpoint.

The only workaround seems to be using opaque text on the number.

Yes, I do disagree with my IT guy. I rarely do this with CD's but that's me and not my company.

That's it so far.

I'd also like to be able to put text below the line (i.e. M.O. - masonry opening, etc.)...as we could using "\X" in the ACAD dimension text editor.

I use a blank font and create a dimension style with it. Then I just type in what I want.

Where can I get a 'blank font'?

You can also use a prefix/suffix. So maybe the Dim reads:

10'-0" (Varies)

This would have the actual dim plus a suffix for "Varies"

Use a font editor program. Numerous ones running around out there...

The opaqe text works very well and everyone in our office has taken to it quickly.
