Alignment sheet generation direction

Is there a standard direction alignments should be generated? Such as, right to left or left to right? Thank you in advance for any answers.

We station gravity utilities from downstream to upstream. Other than that I don't know of an industry standard in my region.

I station it in the direction that will look best on my plan and profile sheet drawings. I like profile views to be from left to right and north pointed (generally) toward the top of the sheet. I try to station my alignments accordingly.

FWIW -

We generally have one or more major roadways given any project which minor alignments intersect. Where possible, we use Left to Right where North is up (when viewing the sheet), but where the sheet view must rotate, we maintain North as Right (meaning the alignments go from South to North).
