View Full Version : Sketch Suppression

Wish List System

Summary: Would like the ability to suppress sketches when not required within an IPT.

Description: Would like to be able to suppress sketches within an IPT - both on the folded model and flat pattern. Inventor allows suppression of individual modeling features (via properties, iparts, ifactories, ect.), but the sketch feature remains and may error out. If the feature is suppressed, the sketch it is based on should be able to be suppressed as well.

Jeff, I'm curious about the scenario you are referring to. I don't understand what you're trying to do.

Assuming EXTRUDE1 is consuming SKETCH1.
If EXTRUDE1 is suppressed then SKETCH1 will be fine.

If a line in a secondary sketch (SKETCH2) was projected from EXTRUDE1 then SKETCH2 will error out, but that's completely expected.

It's the error out scenario that I am trying to avoid. I create alot of parametric models, and part features I can turn on/off via suppression. My issue comes about on sketches to those feature I suppress. If a sketch gets an error, oftentimes it cannot be repaired without manual intervention.

If the sketch could be suppressed, no error occurs, and hopefully no requirement to go back in to repair a sketch.

Post in an AutoCAD forum. This is a forum for an Autodesk product called Autodesk Inventor. Specifically, this is a forum for "wish-list" improvements to Autodesk Inventor software.
