Help! I haven't worked in Acad since 2009. We have a project that started out in Revit but reverted to Acad when the project had to be redesigned, well after CDs were completed. (don't ask).

The Revit tile (2x2 and 2x4) patterns for the entire building were translated into Acad fill patterns. The architect working on the ceilings cannot edit the tile patterns using the standard Acad pattern commands, especially the tile origin.

Anyone have any experience with ceiling translations? Is there anything in the Revit-to-Acad process that could result in defective poly fill patterns? The Acad in this case is 2011. What does the translator do about the z coordinate of ceilings in Revit? Could the polygon not be on the same plane as the 2D walls? Would that affect behavior in plan?

This brings up the whole messy issue of flattening, which Acad never got right.

Hello Mike,

Z Direction depends on the type of view. If it's a Floor Plan view then it should be flat in AutoCAD. The inability to edit the tile patterns is a bit odd... when selecting the ceiling grid, what does it list it as being under the Properties? Is it a Block? A Hatch? Can it be exploded or replaced with a different hatch?

Short answer: Just replace the Revit imported hatch with AutoCAD hatch, it might take some time but could be the best/easiest solution.... but that depends a bit on what that pattern actually is now that it's in AutoCAD.
