I did a model in place plate for an arched beam and now I have know idea where this went. Can someone tell me where is can be located? I looked in the families area under stiffner plates where I directed it to, but it does not seem to be there. I am new to Revit and am trying to work through this on my own.
Thanks in advance,
Nybecc

Hi Nybecc,
Can you see the element in your project? If so, hover over it and see what the tooltip says it is. That will list category and family, it's possible you selected another family category when creating the inplace model.

This sounds like the typical beginner mistake (we've all done it at some point, so don't feel bad). Under VV (Visibility Graphics) put a check next to Mass. You should see your object.
What happens is often the default for this creation is "Mass". Well, mass object visibility is often "off" in a project, so when you got back in your project the Mass category was turned off so it appears that your object is gone. It likely isn't, the Visibility of its Category is just shut off.
As Ken states, you can change this category so it's something more realistic than "Mass". Once you get it turned back on:
1. Select the Mass Object that you modeled.
2. Next, select Edit in Place from the Ribbon.
3. Over toward the left side of the ribbon, choose Family Category and Parameters
4. From here you can change the object to be a different category. When you do, it will be controlled by the Visibility Graphics of the category you choose.

The Mass object was correct thanks!. I do however have another question. Once this object is created am I able to select and use this object again?

Good call Brian. My inplace defaults to column and I assumed Nybecc had picked structural stiffener as the category.
Nybecc, yes you will be able to select it, copy it move it around and otherwise treat it like an element.
Have fun!
