View Full Version : Moving vertical bracing to the inside face of a column

I am wondering if it is at all possible to move a structural brace from the centre of the column to the inside face of the flange?

When I try to align the brace with the inside face of the flange of my column, it tells me that it needs to unjoin the elements (which is fine), but seems to then snap one end of the bracing (top) to the centre of the column at the intersection of the column and the strut. This is annoying as the brace was deliberately not placed at the intersection of the strut and column as the connection would not be correct..

Column is a 200UC46, brace is a 90x8 EA, strut is a 150x6.0 SHS

I am using Revit Structure 2012 for this project (architect requirement)

Thanks in advance

Matthew

Check out Brian's post on his blog (http://bdmackeyconsulting.com/brace-framing), might help you get there. You may need to use the Adjust Analytical feature to keep the brace connected to the correct locations.

The analytical brace position will be independent of this type of geometric positioning of the member (shown exaggerated here).
Should be all set for analysis. :)

Thanks for the responses, it has helped me model the angle bracing to show correctly, even if it hasn't been done how I would have expected
