Network License - Send an offsite person a license?

One of our guys had to fly to a jobsite in another state. He will be there for several days, and he forgot to borrow a license from our network license utility before he went. We use LM Tools.

Is there any way to send him a license?

If your office has VPN set up, you can have him connect to that. Once connected, he should be able to get his license as long as the server that hosts the licesning is available through the VPN. One thing you might have to do is have the user navigate to the server manually to establisha a connection. They might get a pop-up asking them to locate the license file, thats where you would navigate to the server or the license file itself. Hopefully this helps. Post any questions.

Is it possible for your co-worker to connect to a workstation within the office via Remote Desktop Connect to do his work? This would require a VPN or similar access to your network.

Like Devin said, VPN...what helps is locating the logon script on your domain server once connected via VPN...so that it will create all the mapped drives, and then Revit will find the license without one having to search for it manually.

Then they can borrow the license for the duration.

@ Devin & cdatech guy, thanks for the tip, our IT guys are working on setting up VPN for him.
@ Jeff, we do use GoToMyPC for that, but the jobsite doesn't have internet. His hotel room does, so i think we will go with the VPN idea, and get him to borrow for the duration.

Quick aside, is there such a thing as a cloud based autodesk license server? I am just wondering if it exists, and if so does anyone use it successfully. It might be cool if something like this exists so that users could connect to a license only needing an internet connection.

Citrix is the only virtual environment that Autodesk officially supports. So, yes, if you were to have a Citrix based server with Citrix Autodesk licenses you would be ok. Other cloud solutions exist, however, the ELUA is an ever evolving animal that changes with each release. VPN back to your license server is the most straight forward solution (for licenses).
