View Full Version : Photo Callout?

We use photos for demolition work all the time. There is no Photo Callout symbol in Revit so a while back we made a Generic Annotation Photo head (which looks like a callout bubble with dumb text) and we created a Generic Annotation Arrow that we can insert onto the Generic Annotation Photo head and then rotate it around to the view that the photo was taken.

I hate using dumb text. That defeats one of the main joys of Revit. Is there a way to create a photo callout with smart text that follows the photo?

You can set up your photos in individual drafting views - use the elevation marker and reference the drafting views before placing the marker. Rotate as necessary.

Thanks for the reply Megan,
This just might work,,,, curious, is there a way to rotate the elevation (just the arrow) and keep the bubble readable?

You don't rotate the elevation view arrow itself. Instead rotate the circle the arrow attaches to.

The text should stay readable when you rotate an elevation. If you click on it, there is a tiny rotate icon that will show next to the symbol - you can click this and rotate without having to use the rotate command.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I tried to reply yesterday but my network connection kept failing. I just want to thank you both for showing me how to fix this problem. I had not even thought about using an elevation callout. I've been doing it this old way for a couple of years. What a waste. Smart callouts are the only way to go, less chance of error. Thank you both SO MUCH!!!
