Text showing different heights on BOLD

OK,
so perhaps I'm having a blonde moment, but I can't figure this out...
I have 2 text styles:
Arial Narrow 2.5mm
Arial Narrow 2.5mm BOLD

for some reason the BOLD version is showing as though it is only 2.0mm text?

I have attached the example. You can get the same effect simply by checking the BOLD box on the standard 2.5mm text - it will get smaller!!
This is baffling and annoying, I am currently having to use a text of 3.0mm BOLD to get actual 2.5mm BOLD text...

Any clues?

That is strange.
Attached (i hope) a screen shot of that rvt file i attached earlier. They are not the same size on my machine? nor do they print the same height?
