View Full Version : How reliable are recovery files?

How reliable are "recovery" files? Using these files created by Revit after Revit crashes has results in buggy behavior. For instance when trying to "Capture Rendering" a second time, instead of prompting to overwrite the original capture Revit just crashes (I just export images instead now). And in another project the display freezes until rendering is done where as in all other projects you can watch and halt the progress of a rendering if you so choose.

In an unrelated issue I've noticed that cameras placed while in site plan view will only shade/render components placed in site plan view. Just don't place cameras while in site plan view and you'll be fine. Not sure why it does this but not a big deal either.

Mod Note: Moved from Known Issues to General, pending more feedback.

I don't get many crashes, but when I have used recovery files, they have worked without incident.
Other users may have different experiences, but if not, I would suggest sending the bad files to support.

I also haven't seen a problem with cameras placed in site plan view.

Objects in grey:
Phase created: Existing YAF
Phase Demolished: None

Objects in red:
Phase created: Existing YAF
Phase Demolished: Addition

Objects rendered:
Phase created: Addition
Phase Demolished: None

It must be some phase issue the camera recognizes when placed in site view only.

Yes, your phase filter in the Site Plan is set to "show demo & new " and the phase settings set to show existing objects grey, demolished objects red and new objects by category.

Set the filter in the Site Plan View Propertities dialogue to new or current and all objects will render by category and no demo objects will show.

You may need to play with your settings a bit if thats not what you want.
