how to rename {custom x} layer modifiers

I have been experimenting with layer modifiers and don't understand how to rename the {custom x} layer modifiers. If they can't be renamed I don't really see what the point is.

I believe that the Custom # modifiers are just a static text value. While editing the Export Setup under the Layer tab, scroll down towards the bottom to the group "Modifiers". Here, you can define these Custom modifiers.
